    The media is the message: DDR and CSAC workshops in Darfur

    EL Geneina, West Darfur- The Sudan DDR Commission (SDDRC) and the UNDP, held the first of three media sensitization workshops in the Darfur region. With over 20 participants representing television, newspaper, radio and other traditional forms of media, the workshop in Geneina set about increasing awareness of local Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration (DDR) and Community Security and Small Arms Control (CSAC) issues. It also aimed to bring about a greater understanding of the roles they as media can play in being a part of this nationally and locally-owned process.

    Commando forest fighting training certificates

    In cooperation with the Directorate General of the Civil Defense and the Lebanese Army Forces, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the French Embassy are organizing a ceremony to distribute certificates to the Civil Defense trainees after completing the Commando Forest Fire Fighting training on Friday 17th of June.

    On Thursday June 9, 2011, UNDP-ART GOLD North Lebanon in partnership with the Union of Municipalities of Dinnieh will launch the Strategic Planning for the Dinnieh Dinnieh at 11:00 AM at the Jazar Hotel in Sir el Dinnieh. This initiative is funded by the Belgian and Italian governments within the framework of UNDP-ART GOLD Lebanon.

    The UN system launches internal campaign to fight HIV-related stigma and discrimination in the workplace in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia

    Riyadh, the United Nations system is launching on the 8th of June 2011, a global campaign called “Stigma Fuels HIV” aimed to create awareness and to fight against HIV related stigma and discrimination. The UN system strives to become a model workplace in regard to HIV and for this reason it provides continuing training to its employees about HIV prevention, treatment and care options; and it has adopted advanced policies that ensure a fair and respectful environment.
