    International community galvanizes support for Lebanon

    I thank His Excellency, HRH Prince Saud Al Faisal, Foreign Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, for hosting this meeting and for the leadership of Saudi Arabia in co-chairing the Friends of Yemen. My thanks also go to the United Kingdom for so ably supporting the transition in Yemen, and to His Excellency Dr. Abdullatif Al-Zayani, Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) for their support to Yemen and the excellent cooperation between the UN and the Office of the GCC Secretariat in Yemen.

    Three Arab countries and Chad agree to water management programme

    Vienna - Seeking to improve their management of water resources, Three Arab countries and Chad today agreed at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) to establish a long-term framework for utilizing a key underground water system. Egypt, Libya, Sudan and Chad signed a Strategic Action Programme (SAP) that aims to optimize the equitable use of the Nubian Sandstone Aquifer System, a huge water resource that lies beneath the four nations.
