Swiss Federal Councillor Ms. Simonetta Sommaruga Recognizes UNDP Support to the Local Communities Hosting Syrian Refugees
H.E. Swiss Federal Councillor Ms. Simonetta Sommaruga, Head of the Federal Department of Justice and Police was accompanied by the United Nations Resident Coordinator Mr. Edward Kollen and a high level delegation from Swiss government, Jordanian government and UNDP to a field visit to witness on-site activities in Mafraq governorate.
United Nation Development Programme and Ruwwad for Development signed on Monday August 18th new agreement for the implementation of the newly designed program titled 3x6 aims at promoting sustainable livelihoods for vulnerable groups in local communities in north of Jordan who are in affected by the Syrian crises.

Tokyo, 24 July 2014 — Levels in human development continue to rise – yet the pace has slowed for all regions and progress has been highly uneven, according to the latest Human Development Index (HDI) included in the 2014 Human Development Report “Sustaining Human Progress: Reducing Vulnerabilities and Building Resilience”, published today by United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

The ceremony took place in Sabha and al Dafyaneh municipality in Mafraq on Tuesday, August 26.
