    Release of thousands of detainees secured in Somalia

    UNDP supports the State of Kuwait in strategic planning

    The General Secretariat of the Supreme Council for Planning and Development spearheaded a long term strategic planning process in 2007 to address the vision of HH Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and the changing international and regional political, economic and social context. The formulation process started in 2007 bringing in the expertise of UNDP, World Bank, Korean Development Institute and tapping into growing national talents.

    Disabilities & inclusion in Kuwait

    The State of Kuwait plays a significant and leading role amongst Arab States in terms of awareness, advocacy and recognition of disabilities and inclusion and in 1996, a “Disability Law” was officially passed which paved the way for the creation of “The Higher Council for the Disabled Affairs (HCDA)”. There are currently 27,000 registered persons with disabilities in Kuwait benefiting from a diverse range of benefits and services that guarantee their inclusion as well as positive contribution to the Kuwaiti society.
