The Government of Norway signed on 23 November an agreement worth $345,000 with the United Nations Development Programme for its Family Support, Justice and Security Programme. The funding will be used to enhance the capacities of Iraqi civil society organisations to provide legal assistance to vulnerable communities in Iraq, with a particular focus on women and children survivors of gender based violence as well as early and forced marriages.

UNDP and IOM signed on 23 November a Letter of Agreement to undertake work in support of a Peace and Development Analysis, a joint project between UNDP and the Inter-Agency Information and Analysis Unit. The project seeks to understand the context-specific drivers of conflict and relevant development priorities in the Disputed Internal Boundaries (DIBs) areas in northern Iraq.

National and international officials and experts meet to set the third Iraq national human development on course focusing on youth in Iraq
A team of Iraqi and international officials and experts concluded a two day consultation in Istanbul to finalize the preparations for producing Iraq’s 2012 National Human Development Report. The Report, the third so far, will have a thematic focus on Youth, a topic which is highly relevant in the context of current events in the Arab Region and the many challenges that are confronting Iraq youth.
