Launching of the "media development" programme
Under the patronage and in the presence of His Excellency Minister of Information, Dr. Tarek Mitri, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), in partnership with AFP foundation, Canal France International (CFI) and the French embassy in Lebanon, have the pleasure to invite you to attend the launching of the “Media Development” programme and the opening session of the first training session for the Lebanese reporters. This event will take place on Tuesday April 12th 2011 at 9am at the Crown plaza hotel, Queen1 hall, in Hamra.
UNDP’s resident representative Mr. Robert Watkins, chairman and CEO of Agence France-Presse Mr. Emmanuel Hoog and the general manager of Canal France International Mr. Etienne Fiatte will attend the ceremony along representatives from the parliamentarian committees, international organizations, non-governmental organizations and editors in chief of the local newspapers.
The “Media Development” programme falls under the framework of the “Support to the achievement of the Millenium Development Goals” project. Its main objective is to deepen peace and development by strengthening the capacities of the Lebanese journalists to report on their country’s development challenges and to effectively use communications to catalyse change, as well as to take a neutral, objective and constructive approach to their country’s conflicts and any other emerging issues.
The programme aims at supporting media to promote good governance and development, increasing capacity and professionalism within the media personel, and providing technical assistance and training programs in the development of social change media.
